Practitioner Workshop [V6.7]

In this three-day workshop, students perform various tasks that a system administrator performs on a regular basis. These tasks include updating and upgrading an existing basic VMware vSphere® environment and troubleshooting common problems. Students apply the concepts learned during the VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V6.7] course while they increase their skill and competence.

  • Lesson 1: Identify storage protocols and iSCSI storage components
  • Lesson 2: Create and manage VMFS and NFS datastores
  • Lesson 3: Explain how multipathing works with iSCSI
  • Lesson 4: Describe vSAN disk groups and storage policies

Module 4: vSphere vMotion

  • Lesson 1: Perform vSphere Storage vMotion migrations
  • Lesson 2: Use vSphere DRS clusters to improve host scalability
  • Lesson 3: View information about a vSphere DRS cluster
  • Lesson 4: Configure DRS groups and rules

Module 5: vSphere Upgrade

  • Lesson 1: Discus vCenter Server migration paths and steps
  • Lesson 2: Migrate and upgrade vCenter Server for Windows to vCenter Server Appliance
  • Lesson 3: Describe the architecture, components, and capabilities of vSphere Update Manager

  • Lesson 1: Add ESXi hosts to vCenter Server
  • Lesson 2: Describe and use host profiles
  • Lesson 3: Customize ESXi host configuration
  • Lesson 4: Configure and manage a vSphere HA cluster
  • Lesson 5: Create and customize a cluster using the Quickstart workflow
  • Lesson 6: Configure VMware vSAN™ in a cluster

Module 7: Virtual Machine Management

  • Lesson 1: Define and use content libraries
  • Lesson 2: Use templates and cloning to deploy new virtual machines
  • Lesson 3: Use customization specification files to customize a new virtual machine

Module 8: Native Features of vCenter Server Appliance

  • Lesson 1: Access and configure the vCenter Server Appliance management interface
  • Lesson 2: Create a vCenter Server Appliance backup schedule
  • Lesson 3: Restore vCenter Server Appliance from a backup
  • Lesson 4: Configure vCenter Server High Availability
