Installing and Configuration System Center 2012 Operations Manager

Session Detail:    Classroom 5 Day

This five-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to install and configure System Center 2012 Operations Manager. In addition this class will prepare the student for managing their 2012 Operations Manager infrastructure.

Prerequisites

  • Familiarity with PC hardware and devices.
  • Experience supporting Windows-based systems.
  • Basic experience authoring and editing batch and script files.
  • Experience reviewing Windows application and service logs.
  • Experience configuring or supporting distributed application environments.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008 operating system and network configuration.
  • Working Knowledge of Active Directory.

  • Create a proxy for agentless monitoring
  • Configure a computer for agentless monitoring
  • Configure an Agentless Exception Monitoring collector
  • Configure clients which generate error reports to send them to the collector

Module 9: Operations Manager Reporting

  • Lesson 1: Installing SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Lesson 2: Installing Operations Manager Reporting
  • Lesson 3: Viewing Reports and Creating Custom Reports

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Install SQL Server Reporting Services

  • Create, View and Customize reports

Module 10: Operations Manager Audit Collection Services

  • Lesson 1: Overview of Audit Collection Services

  • Set systems to forward and collect ACS data
  • Audit non-Windows systems

Module 11: Management Pack Templates

  • Lesson 1: Introduction to Management Pack Templates
  • Lesson 2: Monitoring Scenarios Using Management Pack Templates

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand the types of Management Pack Templates included with Operations Manager
  • Create monitoring solutions which mimic actual user activities

Module 12: Distributed Applications

  • Lesson 2: Design and Creation of Distributed Applications

  • View and manage the parts of a distributed application
  • Create and navigate the components of a distributed application

Module 13: Monitoring Complex Environments

  • Lesson 1: Connecting Management Groups
  • Lesson 2: Multihomed Agents
  • Lesson 3: Gateway Servers and Untrusted Environments

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Connect multiple management groups
  • Configure an agent to report to multiple management groups
  • Configure monitoring of untrusted environments
  • Connect third party management tools to Operations Manager

Module 14: Backup and Disaster Recovery
